      • Amy Houston

I'm a hearty, Canadian prairie girl. I recently ended a long term relationship and through it took a long hard look at my life: how I was living it, who I was spending my time with and what was controlling the decisions I was making. I came mostly to finding some answers (of course the journey has only begun) through my yoga practice. So far I have been overwhelmingly fulfilled with greatness and satisfaction in my life just by changing my outlook and attitude. Most recently I quit a fast paced marketing job to pursue my love of yoga and become a certified yoga instructor and although scary it was the best decision I have made so far! It's the first job I have had that allows you to first hand contribute to the lives of others in so many ways, everyday, big and small! Most days I feel like I'm floating on cloud 9 .

    • Monica Rivas

For me yoga is about being present. It is about freedom from the chitter chatter of our minds, to feel the NOW. I love to teach because I love to share with my students these things that make yoga so special to me, and to give them an opportunity to discover what they love about yoga as well. I took my first class when I was 17. Although I felt physically awkward and uncomfortable in many of the poses, I left the class in such as state of peace. Around my fifteenth consecutive class I came to a beautiful mile stone. Throughout the entire class I felt so connected to my breath, like my breath rather than my brain was moving me. I felt both liberated and serene all at the same time. This is the moment I fell in love with yoga. www.sunflowyoga.com monica.rivas.a@gmail.com

    • Tedi Martin

I am a yogi who is committed to illuminating areas within myself and my students that are hiding in the shadows. When we embark on a yogic journey, we are brought to a place of higher awareness where irresponsible thoughts and actions are no longer ignored. We wake up in order to be present in our daily lives. We are eliminating pain in our physical bodies so we can connect to a more spiritual and energetic self. We are transforming ourselves on a micro level in order to influence the world. The time is now, step onto the mat and enjoy the ride. I began my practice in the eighth grade which has evolved naturally into teaching. I offer a strong vinyasa class with lots of breath, flowing movement, inversions and arm balances. My studies in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) percolate my teachings, so don’t’ be surprised if you learn a little about the meridians and TCM theory. www.TediMartin.com www.facebook.com/tedimartinyoga

Los Angeles, CA I've always been fairly healthy, having my binge moments at the gym... but in 2012, I finally started eating more consciously and taking fitness more seriously. By early 2013, I had found a couple of fitness accounts on Instagram (including @laurasykora and @masumi_g) and was fascinated by their beautiful poses. Late January, Masumi helped me with my first pose - grasshopper - I was hooked! I took my first yoga class (Vinyasa Flow) in March 2013 and instantly fell in love. Yoga helps me maintain my focus on the present - always teaching me that if I am not focused I will fall - literally. I love how challenging some of the asanas are, and how I am inspired daily from around the world with Instagram. Some of my goals for yoga would include sharing it with more people - I initially thought yoga was boring - holding stagnant poses for long periods of time (some are, but not all yoga is!). I want to share the love and passion I have found. I have a growing list of poses that I am working on as I am inspired by fellow yogis and fitness individuals all the time.
In wanting to share and connect with people, I started Los Angeles Yoga Addicts (LA Yoga Addicts/LAYA). I've been able to not only connect with people that are in my local area, but people around the country and world! It initially started as a joke to see if we could get some fellow IG yogis to meet up and have a play date... now we coordinate meet ups, workshops, and events every other month or so. I started my yoga journey after losing 35-40 pounds and was looking for a new way to work out. I saw all these incredible yogis on Instagram and I fell in love with their practice!! All I could think was "this is yoga?!" I honestly thought it was just "stretching", I had no idea the wonders it would do for my strength, weightloss and soul on top of flexibly!! On March 18th, 2013 I made a promise to myself to unroll my mat every single day no matter what! I used the app Simply Yoga and began following Instagram photos, step by steps and video to learn at home and it wasn't until October of last year that I took my first yoga class! I've been doing a once weekly class for an hour since then and still practice at home every day! I dream of becoming a yoga teacher in the future, once we can afford it! I absolutely love everything about my practice and what it has done for my mind, soul and body!! I've lost a total of 90lbs in over 2 years and I've never been healthier or happier! As I embark on my journey as a competitive wake surfer, I hope to push boundaries, inspire others, and of course share the karma. www.jasminenoel.weebly.com

Born and raised in sunny San Diego, I first discovered yoga just over a year ago and immediately fell in love with everything it had to offer. Practicing has taught me so much about myself mentally, physically, and spiritually. I have an insatiable curiosity to keep pushing myself to try and learn new things and to teach others along the way. The biggest motivation for me is to be inspired by others and in turn, strive to inspire those around me. To stay active, I partake in hot yoga, acro yoga, aerial yoga, indoor rock climbing, and hiking.

I’m Whitney I was born and raised in northern Michigan. I am 20 years old and just started getting into yoga about a year ago. My practice started about a year with my good friend Alena. This past year while I was at school I took a yoga class twice a week. From then my passion and interest for yoga has grown. This fall I will be getting certified to teach yoga 1.

Though Instagram I was able to come across the brand Karma Collective and fell in love with the clothing and also the lifestyle you all have created. I love the meaning behind the company in following your hearts, taking risks and giving back to the community. So for being a brand ambassador for Karma Collective in Northing Michigan is a huge opportunity to share that with everyone who has the same passion as I do.

Yoga for me is a way to save my life, every single breath is helping me stay afloat against the terminal illness that plagues me. I was born with a disease known as Cystic Fibrosis and what it does is slowly ruin my lungs and digestive system. Yoga has helped slow the progression of this disease down drastically and I am forever thankful for the practice. I believe that every day is truly a gift and that spreading love is the most important thing in the world. I love this practice, and I hope to share that passion. .
